You know, when you’re a kid and the world seems ready to welcome you with open arms. Like every possibility had the potential to become reality. When you said that you wanted to be a “Astronaut Firefighter singer” you had every intention of fulfilling your aspirations. I’m 20 and I still don’t think I’ve grown up from that mindset. There are nights when music is all I want. Where the dream of carrying a note for the rest of my life seems plausible. Where the music makes sense. Those moments at 2:40am where the music seems like the whispers of God through your speakers. But then my other dreams make themselves apparent, reminding me of what I want to be for my generation. I’m not sure if I am the only one feeling this way. But I haven’t always wanted to be a lawyer, I had an epiphany before that happened. I want to be my generations MLK, I want to be a voice, for the voiceless. What do I do? WIth such aspirations, how does ones mind rest?
